Malagasy Proverb |
Do not kick
away the canoe which helped you to cross the river. –Malagasy Proverb.
Meaning:
This proverb
gives a piece of advice on continuing a relationship with the people who helped on your bad time.
Thoughts:
This proverb’s
origin is Madagascar the country of islands. If you have watched the animated movie
featured on these islands (Madagascar Film). In fact, it is all bounded by sea-water. Same as our
life, we living today like sailing in a huge ocean. Sometimes, we are someone’s
canoe or we sick canoe at times in our life; as this proverb suggests to do not
forgot the canoe which helped us to cross the river.

● Saloni helped her friend Shyama when he is in need but when Saloni asked him to give money back for her mother's operation then he shook the head. Saloni said, "do not kick away the canoe which helped you to cross the river."
● Ram was poor at managing the books after passing the exam. Unfortunately, he failed in one a subject--unable to find that book and burst into tears. After some time his father told him do not kick the canoe which helped you to cross the river and handover his book to him.
● Rajesh's teacher Hiren offered him work in his company during his poor economic conditions. After becoming rich he bought that company and kicked out Hiren.

The time repeated itself returns. Rajesh was on road. He again met Hiren and cried--he replied that's why dear Rajesh "Do not throw the canoe which helped you to cross the river."
